It’s quite remarkable how much trust we place in individuals who are merely names on a screen or specialists in one narrow field, assuming their expertise extends to everything else. With my growing wealth of practical experience, it feels almost alarming that I once accepted so readily the advice from fetish forums offered by people whose credentials weren’t what they appeared. Men posing as women, supposedly chaste men who were not, and more besides. To make matters worse, much of their reported experience was purely digital and rooted in fantasy. I’m sharing this because last night at the club I encountered a young man visiting Glasgow. His partner travels extensively across the country and overseas, delivering talks and demonstrations on a specific fetish that demands careful attention and proper safeguards during practice. Upon mentioning my focus on chastity, he shared their story: they had attempted it but found it too painful and unsuccessful. These are two lifestyle kinksters who attend various events yet have essentially abandoned chastity. When I inquired about what went wrong, the explanation was straightforward. They read an article on a website regarding chastity devices and purchased a CB6000. Once it arrived, he consulted some online guidance, applied it, and tried to wear it for 24 hours including overnight. The result? Agony. I described how using spacers and rings allows one to adjust the fit until comfortable before attempting longer durations in increments. Hearing this made him much more optimistic; he plans to return home and give it another shot. It was startling to realize that these two committed lifestyle kinksters could be misled by online figures who seemed so authoritative but were actually just projecting fantasies. If they can be deceived by a digital persona, it highlights how easily anyone might fall into the same trap. I suspect when I first entered this world by joining a fet club and engaging with real-life kinksters, I assumed others would follow suit. Clearly, that wasn’t the case; there remain many who construct their personas entirely online, dispensing advice based on personal fantasies rather than reality. My conversation with this young man illustrates just how risky it can be. This is likely why @lockit and I continue to return to CM. Beneath the wave of enthusiastic newcomers and obvious dreamers lie genuine people living the lifestyle, forming a supportive community that guides one another as they navigate their paths. I hope our new acquaintance begins to enjoy chastity more fully. I look forward to seeing them at their next club meeting to observe his progress. I will report back.
