The VA swapped out my hearing aids. The previous pair relied on batteries and were quite simple models. Switching between modes offered only a slight benefit, plus it was cumbersome to manage. They couldn’t handle phone calls properly and responded sluggishly to GPS prompts, often cutting off the beginning of directions. My new ones are fantastic. They rechargeable, let me answer or end calls with just a tap on either side’s button, and pair nicely with my phone app for easy control. There’s a “forward” setting that focuses on sounds ahead of me. I tested it recently at a busy Denny’s while Kitten sat in the booth opposite me. Turning on the noise filter eliminated most background din, making it feel as though we were alone. Plus, GPS directions are now crisp and complete.
