Base Ring Size Changes Over Time

Alright, so I understand that over time the base ring size tends to decrease… but has anyone experienced the reverse? Or something close to it? My husband dropped down a ring size from 2” to 1 3/4 and had been comfortable in that size. However, lately his device seems to fit as if he might actually need a slightly larger ring. I’m leaning toward him needing a 1 7/8 base ring… but when I used the sizing rings from MM, the largest one was the one that fitted with just enough room for a finger up to the knuckle… so now I wonder if he really needs to go back up to a 2” ring? The issue is, those measuring rings are light and don’t account for the pull of the device. What if I get him the 2” ring but its own weight pulls it down instead of letting it sit properly?

So please share your experiences! I’m trying to figure out the best move here… sometimes this stuff gets a bit confusing.
