Removing the base ring

I tried taping the ‘bipartite’ ring on my Steelheart to see if I could manage putting it on. I managed to get the solid (taped) ring in place, but later while removing the tube, I got an erection. The base ring was very tight and wouldn’t come off. The erection itself was so firm that my veins were bulging, which made things quite uncomfortable. There was a way to make it go down, though doing so kind of defeated the purpose; there was also some panic creeping in.

Does anyone else deal with this? Could the base ring just be too small?
