There is a faint click when I walk and I am now obsessed with it

Small thing that has taken over my week. When I walk on a hard floor there is a faint click. Very faint. Metal touching metal, I think, somewhere around the lock.

At home I cannot hear it at all. On the tiled corridor at work I am convinced it is audible from ten feet away and I have started walking slower, which is probably more noticeable than the noise.

Is this a real problem or am I inventing one? And if it is real, is there anything to do about it?
