Public pool with a cage on. Overthinking it?

I swim two mornings a week at the local pool and I have not been since I started wearing. Not because anyone told me not to, just because I got as far as picturing the changing room and gave up.

It is an open changing area with a few cubicles that are usually taken. Nobody is looking at anybody, I know that, and yet.

Has anyone done this regularly? Is there a visibility issue in swim shorts, and does chlorine cause problems with the metal?
