They turned up roughly fifty years ago within the belongings of an elderly relative after she passed away. She likely purchased them in Paris somewhere between 1910 and 1920. The Musee de Cluny is a remarkable spot, keeping among its treasures the tapestries known as ‘The Lady and the Unicorn,’ whose symbolism I barely have time to unpack. Still, those artifacts shown here weren’t on view, just like these postcards. My French wasn’t quite strong enough for me to attempt discovering if they currently possess them.
