I’ve had my amicus on for roughly a month now, with just a couple of days unlocked. I really like it, but I feel an urge to downsize… When I sit to use the restroom, I have to hold the device and pull up my scrotum to reset everything before it settles back into place. I spoke with Mark at MCN; his communication is excellent. The amicus measures 1.75 inches in length. As summer heats up, I’m realizing I might be smaller than I anticipated, or perhaps Chastity is just becoming second nature. The ring on my 1.75 device feels a bit loose. If I get permission to unlock this weekend, I’ll try the 1 5/8 size. The amicus itself has a 1.25 diameter ring; with the sizing rings attached, that totals 27mm (about 1.06 inches). I need to double-check with Mark since his site only lists 1 inch and 1.125 inch options. Daytime temperatures are hovering in the low 90s, hitting 110 degrees when you factor in direct heat. Consequently, my device tends to slide down. However, while sleeping or sitting in my truck, there is adequate clearance inside. I suspect a cage length reduction of quarter to half an inch would work well for me. Additionally, I’d like to experiment with a smaller base ring, perhaps the 1 5/8. The contender at 1.5 inches will resemble a glans armor paired with a base ring; I’m inclined toward that option because Peter Rabbit is our resident MCN authority here. My current preference: a 1 5/8 oval base ring, a device ring around 1.06 or similar, and a 1.5-inch cage length. Just sharing my thoughts to see if anyone else has opinions or advice.

You’ll really enjoy the Contender. It’s lighter and doesn’t pull down as much for me. I’m just thinking aloud... not claiming to be an expert on this feedback... but I believe a 1-1/8” internal diameter cage would suit you well. How does your current 1-1/4” Amicus feel? Does it have too much wiggle room? Is it comfortable and spacious when flaccid? I requested Mark to build me a 1-3/16” diameter cage, which he did via email with no complications at all. The dimensions were spot on for a perfect fit. However, that was specifically for my GlansArmor, as I wanted something slightly tighter than the standard 1-1/4” after nearly two years of comfortable use. Whether you should jump from 1-1/4” to 1-3/16” rather than going all the way down to 1-1/8” is your call. You can always ask him for his recommendation; I suspect he’d say there wouldn’t be a massive difference. And yes, 1/16” (about 1.5mm) is indeed small. For a Contender specifically, that difference is more subtle compared to devices that grip the shaft tightly. Regarding the base ring: Yes, it gets hot! The heat and lower-hanging testicles might be impacting your fit. I don’t wear an Amicus myself; its heavier build likely explains why you experience draw-down issues. However, trying a tighter base ring is worth attempting. It may help resolve the issue. Just ensure there isn’t excessive bunching or folding of skin that causes discomfort. I apply anti-chafing cream to my 1-3/4” (nominal ID) cage, which has ovalized over time. This cyclist’s cream prevents friction burns and allows for comfortable settling. From what I observe, the base rings are fully compatible across models, so ordering one separately lets you swap them easily. On length: The shorter cage option is 1-3/4 inches... Keep in mind this refers only to the cage body. When accounting for base ring thickness and gap space, it works well for those with a flaccid length around 2-1/2 inches. If you wish to go down to a 2-inch total measurement (cage plus rings), I have one like that: featuring a 1/4” gap, a 1/4” base ring section, and a 1-1/2” cage length. Mark recently told me: “A flaccid length of 2 inches marks the threshold for choosing between one or two cage rings on a Contender. Any flaccid length shorter than this definitely requires a single-ring setup. I usually default to two rings for lengths right at two inches.” So it’s entirely your choice whether you prefer a looser drop or a straighter fit. I’ve worn the 1-1/2” length with a half-inch gap as well, and found it manageable even though my flaccid length is around 2-1/4”. If yours is drooping down significantly, that could explain the extra space/gap. Perhaps smaller base rings will help... Do you already own one or are planning to order? I don’t have all the definitive answers here. Mark provides excellent email support though. Funny enough, I started writing this before noticing you mentioned my name! Haha. Good luck!
