Edema is proving to be a real mood-killer. To put it simply, with my Cherry Keeper, the skin surrounding the soft shaft slides around the exterior of the cage ring and gets caught between the testicles and the bars at the top end. Within hours, this swelling ruins the fun. With my Rigid Beast Muzzle, however, that same skin moves around the interior of the ring and ends up trapped between the testicles below and the penile head above near the tip. Again, a few hours pass before edema takes away the pleasure. I’m currently unlocked once more, just waiting for the puffiness to subside.

What’s going on? Does anyone have suggestions for fixing this? Also, is there any danger in dealing with recurring episodes of edema?

Consider going up a size. I ran into trouble with a Lori device that was too snug for me. Changes of just 1/8” or 1/16” in diameter can make a huge difference. A cage with a 1.25” diameter offers about 10% more surface area than one at 1.1875”, which is itself 10% larger than the 1.125” version. When I’m aroused, fluid tends to pool between my cage and ring rather than causing edema. My swelling usually stays around the glans and that sensitive skin behind it (where I was circumcised). The tougher skin of the shaft itself rarely gives me trouble. So, if your issue is localized near the head rather than along the shaft, this might be key.
