Question

I had a pretty scary moment with the security screw on my Queen's Keep. I've been wearing this device, which locks itself in place, for some time now. The longest I've kept it locked is four weeks, only unlocking twice for fifteen minutes to clean.

Usually, I do lockups lasting one or two weeks, take a short break, and then start another one.

On Sunday, when I went to unlock it, the screw wouldn't move at all. I tried repeatedly with my key, even switching to the spare key. I also applied some mineral oil to help loosen things up. Still no luck unlocking it. (I hadn't used any plumber's tape or other substances previously). This was a standard lockup from Wednesday through Sunday—no orgasm since Monday.

Eventually, I managed to use pliers by wedging the key tightly into the screw head and working it loose with the tool.

But honestly, I'm extremely dissatisfied with this screw system now. Very disappointed that I paid extra for it. For now, I think I'll stick with a regular padlock....

Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Not really, I use teflon tape and the screw stays secure until my wife decides she wants it off. In three years of using a Jailbird with that same security screw, I've never had trouble undoing it.

My Contender hasn't given me any issues. However, I do switch back and forth between the screw mechanism and a padlock.

Obviously you need to be careful; perhaps applying it with a Q-tip would help. Personally, I think a penetrating lubricant might work better than mineral oil. From their picture, I can't tell if Mature Metal uses their own proprietary security screw or just a standard one (like hex). I'd suggest reaching out to them directly for specific advice.
