Difficulties with wearing a device? discussion

Hi there, I just discovered this great site and signed up today. My partner has been wearing a cage (not sure of the specific name) for about a year now. He usually gets some nights off from it, but lately his testicles have started retracting and shooting out through the ring. It’s happening more or less every day.
Last night was particularly bad; he said both balls retracted at once and popped right out of the metal ring, leaving him feeling terrible, as if he’d been kicked in the groin.
This is new for us. Do you know what causes this and how can we correct it? Thanks! I’m eager to get involved with everyone here.

what type of cage is it?
It could be a small ring. Or if it's plastic, the gap between the bottom of the cage and the ring might have widened slightly over time.

It’s made of metal. It’s a tiny model with a metal ring that opens up completely when unlocked.

I was thinking along those lines. He’s been wearing that same ring for over six months without any problems before now. His testicles are fuller too though. Could that be the reason??
