Expenses The CM runs on dedicated servers, and the forum software costs more than just a single Xenforo license. We have add-ons that provide extra functionality which we all enjoy. Even more features will emerge to benefit everyone.
• I have paid a significant amount - I won’t reveal exactly how much - but it is substantial for holding this non-profit site aloft…
• The server fee on the dedicated wired host is currently 70 dollars monthly. I am reviewing this; we might lower costs, but part of it covers support fees… so it isn’t entirely clear cut…
• The domain renewal is $27.90 annually
• The Xenforo software license needed renewing - ($200 one-time fee until the next cycle (!))
• All current Xenforo add-ons installed on CM cost about 45 dollars monthly in subscription to keep us updated.
• Server load shows peaks above 95% - reaching 110%. The number of active users is visible on-site for all to see. It fluctuates…
• Our user base exceeds 25,000; approximately 2,200 are truly active within a reasonable timeframe right now. We gain about 60 new subscribers daily and lose around two. I don’t pay storage fees for photo galleries etc. for all these users.
• I will soon install a new add-on: among others, a mobile chat function - heavily requested by many. It costs me roughly 70 dollars upfront plus $10 monthly subscription. There you have it! Plenty of good reasons to chip in occasionally. Sincerely, Jens Administrator of the Mansion
