This was inevitable. I’ve finally accepted into my heart that I am a better person this way, a better partner, more in touch with the present moment, more selfless and decent in general. This is the path I ought to take. To say that it comes naturally isn’t the same as saying it’s easy. A runner born for distance doesn’t find marathon training easy. They are just built for this specific kind of challenge, suited to thrive within it and rise above themselves toward a higher goal. I am geared for the challenges of chastity down to my core DNA. I am committed to becoming my best self through it. That doesn’t mean it will be simple; far from it.
One thing I’ve learned about chastity is that sometimes She helps me, but often she does not. Sometimes we share the experience, which is lovely, but more frequently it stands alone. I must avoid falling into the trap of projecting my struggles onto her. In short, I hope this journal will support me during times when I need to help myself. “The darker the night, the brighter the stars. The deeper the grief, the closer is God.”
