Seeking Input on Device Spacing

I’m considering buying another unit from Dietmar at Steelworxx. I already have a Steelheart and a cb-6000s, and both are still in regular use. The main issue is figuring out the gap for a new device. My Steelheart features a 35mm tube with a standard bottom gap of about 15mm. On the other hand, the more open cage-style Looker 3 I’m eyeing has a 30mm tube/cage diameter and typically comes with an ~12mm gap.

I really want to avoid that extra 5mm in tube width for the Looker, particularly because its open design makes it easier to clean without needing all that extra space. I prefer the Looker to feel snugger, and I believe 30mm will achieve that well. Right now, I own both 42mm and 43mm a-rings; with my Steelheart, I usually wear the 42mm one. It might be possible to go even smaller, so for the Looker 3, I’m planning to order both 41mm and 40mm rings.

Since I don’t have an anatomical ring (PA), there won’t be a padlock attached when using the Looker.

For my cb-6000s, I use the middle ring (around 45mm) paired with the second-smallest spacer (~10mm)…keeping it metric as much as possible.

So, what’s the best approach for the gap on a Looker 3? My left ball has occasionally slipped out, which I fixed long ago by dropping to a 10mm spacer on my cb. On the Steelheart, I’ve been fine most of the time—I can only recall two escapes total. However, switching from a 35mm device down to a 30mm one with just a tiny reduction in a-ring size could create more room for escape.

Should Dietmar reduce the gap by 1 or 2mm? I lean toward 10mm being ideal. Also, I’m thinking standard configuration without an anatomical ring, since adding that would only increase space further.
