I picked up my initial Bon4 back in September of 2010, and since then I’ve ended up with silicone tears on two separate cages. The company owner, Peter, sent a replacement for the first tear, so I’m hoping he does it again this time around. While these cracks don’t compromise the cage’s structural integrity, they do pinch quite uncomfortably, making it hard to wear during erection or overnight.
I suspect there is a design flaw here - the specific angle really encourages stress-tears, which seems to be where my issues lie. I’m aware that the Bird Locked cage has a rounded shape, and I believe that gives it an edge over time.
If their warranty or offer doesn’t cover this second Bon4, I’ve started considering doing repairs myself (provided I have two retired units available). The most obvious fix for me would be melting the tear back together. However, I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this or dealt with tearing issues in their own Bon4s.
