Based on what I’ve seen and heard from others, the ideal A ring size is usually the smallest one you can tolerate overnight; daytime wear tends to be less of a problem. With my previous cb3000, I discovered that a 1 3/4” (size 3) ring works for sleeping, but it feels a little loose during the day, allowing the device to slide down slightly. A 1 5/8” (size 4) ring keeps everything more securely in place while awake.
I’ve ordered a Jailbird equipped with an oval 1 3/4” ring. I’m curious if it’s practical and effective to temporarily reduce its diameter by about 1/8” during the day by adding material underneath, rather than buying two rings and swapping them out daily (which seems excessive). This adjustment would improve comfort and appearance without sacrificing nighttime security, since you can still remove it at night. I haven’t received my device yet, so please keep in mind that I’m not particularly handy with tools. Does anyone have suggestions for the best material to use? Key requirements are:
- The A ring needs to sit securely within this added layer without slipping off.
- It should be roughly 1/8” (3mm) thick.
- It must be non-porous and hygienic.
How would you suggest making this work?
