How do I tell a new partner I'm locked?

I am dating again after a long time, and I wear a cage as part of a self-managed thing, no keyholder right now. It matters to me and I do not want to hide it, but I also have no clue how to bring it up with someone new without it landing like a bombshell.

Too early feels like oversharing. Too late feels like I kept a secret. Has anyone done this well? How did you raise it, and how did the other person take it? Trying to be honest without scaring off someone I actually like.
