My wife handed me this piece recently. Prior to that, every cage I owned was made of metal because my initial encounter with a CB line cage was so dreadful it’s hard to believe I actually paid for it. As I continue using this item, I’ll share my thoughts according to the guidelines.
Build: It’s constructed from polycarbonate and the molds are exceptionally good. There aren’t any jagged edges, the material is highly transparent, and it includes additional adjustment pins along with various rings that go up to a 2-1/4” inner diameter. The only downside is the included lock. It’s made of plastic and designed primarily for passing through airport security scanners without issue, but honestly, it’s pretty poor quality. I recommend using one of the provided keyholder tags instead; it’s a welcome bonus compared to many other products.
Comfort: I’m still fine-tuning the adjustments, but so far this lightweight construction feels quite pleasant. Getting all the components seated and your anatomy aligned takes some effort, but once worn, it truly serves as a cage for everyday use in my view.
Cleaning: The open tube structure is likely my favorite aspect of this model. I avoid the typical unpleasant odors and moisture buildup. It’s also very simple to clean.
Wear time (between washes): Up until now, I’ve managed to keep it on for a week before my Keyholder instructs me to take it off for shaving and a deep clean beyond just a regular shower. The ring can feel slightly tight at times, but applying a little lube around the area fixes that immediately.
Appearance: It suits me well. It has a distinctly manly look, unlike some CB models… well, those not suited to my taste or perhaps better for my wife/Keyholder.
Fit: Putting it on is somewhat of a hassle, but that’s mostly due to my own awkwardness rather than any defect in the cage itself. I wear mine high up, not hanging down.
Sizing accuracy: Zero complaints. SHOTS clearly did their research here. It’s unlike some other pieces in their lineup; this specific design is just ideal for long-term use as far as I’m concerned.
Security: You’ll need to swap out the lock or utilize the keyholder tags since the one provided doesn’t quite match up with the rest of this excellent gear.
I also want to mention that how this cage arrives is simply splendid. It feels like receiving a pair of dueling pistols or something similar. Very masculine, very gentlemanly, and it includes a great storage box for when you aren’t wearing it.
Thanks.
