If you’ve spent a decent stretch of time in chastity, please jump in and contribute. For those contemplating the lifestyle, here are some pointers.

1. Test it out before purchasing. Before diving in completely, give it a short-term test run. You might decide on a custom-fitted metal cage, but if you discover you dislike being locked up, that could be throwing money away. To begin with, pick an affordable option (typically plastic). A) Less is more regarding size. Don’t let your pride dictate the fit. Measure yourself while flaccid and aim for a shaft tube that fits as tightly as possible. A device that’s too long might get ‘caught’ when you sit down. Also keep in mind that larger devices are tougher to conceal in public.
2. Hold onto (or assign?) extra keys. It can be tempting to lock up and toss the key, but you risk getting locked OUT of your cage if something goes wrong. If you slip out unexpectedly, you won’t be able to get back in without a tool like bolt cutters.
3. Concealment is key. Choose trousers that are maybe slightly loose around the waist to give more room in the crotch area so your device doesn’t poke out as if you have a tent set up. Also, angle yourself slightly rather than standing straight on or off-center. A curve hides better at an angle than pointing directly down. When seated, crossing your legs high helps more than just spreading them apart (‘manspreading’). While walking, leaning slightly can help disguise the device. If asked, you can claim a minor backache.
4. Cleanliness counts. Wearing a cage makes using public urinals trickier without getting too close to the porcelain. Zipping and unziding also requires more care. Sitting in a stall offers better privacy. Some cages have curved tips that catch urine, so don’t hesitate to shake yourself once or twice. Don’t shy away from bathing. Showers are fine, but if you need full submersion for cleaning, go ahead. Trim excess hair; shaving isn’t mandatory, but long hairs can get trapped and pinch in the device, leading to some awkward dancing.
5. Lubrication is crucial! - If you’re circumcised, a cage that fully covers your shaft might need lube. Oil-based lubricants degrade plastic faster than water-based ones, which wash away more quickly. Fortunately, as an uncircumcised wearer, this doesn’t bother me.
6. Patience. Allow yourself time to adjust to the device. Ease in gradually. Start with a few hours and extend the duration if it feels comfortable. You don’t need to wear it longer than necessary. ** Sleep**. Studies have repeatedly highlighted sleep’s importance, so I won’t dwell on that too long. Initially, you might struggle to reach REM cycles. Some men manage this; others find it difficult. Give yourself time to adapt, which usually takes a week or so. The challenge (pun intended) is that erections pressing against the inside of your cage CAN prevent REM sleep. If adjusting doesn’t help and you can’t rest, simply remove the device for sleeping. It’s not a disaster.
