Cycling season is starting and my first ride is scheduled. Are there any cyclists here who stay locked? I’ve never quite solved this “chastity use case,” especially during longer triathlon rides. That forward-leaning posture on a hard saddle, pedaling at 90 RPM while wearing tight shorts, can be torture even for a small cage.

Has anyone managed to cycle semi-seriously while caged? Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Currently, my KH values my fitness more than me being locked around the clock, so I plan to unlock just for rides. It would be great to find an option that allows me to remain locked.

Just grab an exercise bike without a saddle and you'll do fine. Your partner can keep watch on you anyway, so being unlocked shouldn't cause any issues.

I don't do triathlons, but I cover 50 to 100 miles weekly. Living in New England means lots of hills. I've experimented with many setups, but here's the thing: you have to decide if the chafing or constant adjusting is worth the bragging rights of telling strangers on an internet forum that you ride caged. I'm an older guy, and a few years back I tried this saddle: Selle SMP TRK. I mostly gave it a shot because my man bits were going numb on longer rides, and four different saddles hadn't fixed the issue. It's not exclusively for road bikes, but that doesn't matter to me - this is the most comfortable saddle I've ever used. They offer various models with this split-taint, eagle-beak design, including options for tri bikes. One day I might upgrade to a nicer leather version, but I'm content for now. I didn't buy this saddle specifically for wearing a device - but last year I started riding caged after discovering it was possible. For me, if I applied plenty of lube beforehand, I could manage 15 or even 20 miles on less strenuous rides. However, by mile 25, I found myself fidgeting and adjusting too much, wishing for more lotion. Riding in the drops was okay, but the hoods were definitely more comfortable. Obviously, sitting upright on the bar is even better. Here's my approach. I wear an A272. There's a spare key in the bathroom. When heading out, I put on my cycling kit, remove the device, and go. Upon returning home, my first stop is the shower, so I bring the key inside and re-lock while washing (also: I wash my shorts and jersey in the shower and hang them to dry). I mean, I'm certainly not going to pull over by the roadside for a quick wank, and after climbing hills in my area, I'm too exhausted even to think about it. My wife is fine with this arrangement. Also, when you're cranking along, you want to focus on the road - the last thing you need is hitting a pothole or stick because you suddenly had to shift your cage to the other side.

I'm a bike commuter for only a few miles each way. I wear loose-fitting cycling shorts (by J&G) and ride on a Brooks saddle. No issues, though again I don't go far or fast.

Thanks, Tom! Great info. > Tom Allen said: > you have to decide if the chafing or constant adjusting is worth the bragging rights to tell anonymous people on an internet forum that you ride caged. > Click to expand... Haha. No kidding. I think there's already plenty of fantasy BS out in Internet Land, and the only two people whose opinions matter are my wonderful lady and myself. > Tom Allen said: > When I'm going out, I put on my kit, remove the device, and head out. When I get back home, the first thing I do is head for the shower, so I bring the key in and lock back up while I'm washing > Click to expand... That's exactly my solution too. No big deal. I wasn't riding for a while, so now I've gotten used to not having to unlock. Running is FAR easier in a cage -- loose shorts, no "crouch" -- but as I age, cycling becomes kinder on the knees. Chastity has always involved a lot of experimentation and finding solutions; it's just part of the game for me. I appreciate the pointers and will see what works best. QL
