I recently ordered a custom Contender. I relied on the measurement guidelines from Mature Metal to determine my size, and because I'm a grower, this device feels quite small. Now I just need to figure out how to get comfortable with it.

My scrotum is suffering. I suspect I need to apply lotion or lubricant along with the base ring, but I also need something soothing that aids healing since it's pretty red and inflamed. What products do you recommend?

Also...for a beginner, do most of you unlock at night during erections, or just power through? It’s quite uncomfortable; by then, the skin on the underside of my scrotum really needs relief. When I do remove it, I have to stick my finger under the base ring to release some pressure. It's a bit of a process!

I use different creams depending on the issue.

For painful sores, I use baby nappy cream—it works great on adult skin too! I go with Bepanthen, though there are other brands.

For dry, itchy skin (usually under the base ring), a little vaseline or lanolin does the trick.

For general prevention, I use something like E45 cream to stop problems before they start—that’s my best strategy!
