Tuesday night was a bit of a disaster for me. I got impatient. I own an Evotions cage, but the piercing insert was slightly too large and needed some sanding down. I had been waiting to do anything with it until the lymph buildup reduced because I didn’t want to get stuck against the device. I still have my Queens Keep, so I decided to thread a captive ball ring through the cage. It worked initially, but the spring inside the ball got jammed and wouldn’t stay put. When I tried pinching the ring, I ended up breaking it without having any spare jewelry on hand. For the next 3 hours, I searched for a place with decent jewelry options but came up empty handed. Not many choices available at 11pm. I drove 60 miles to visit the only three shops that were still open and managed to miss all three key criteria: finding high-quality jewelry, locating a shop with an autoclave, and meeting someone competent enough to help me resolve the issue. Since I had to be back at work by 4am, I couldn’t get back to my piercer until 7pm. That meant 22 hours without jewelry, during which the hole shrank from a comfortable 2 gauge down to an incredibly painful insertion of a 6 gauge taper. You can bet I screamed in pain. Honestly, it hurt worse than my kidney stone did. When I tried following through with some 6 gauge jewelry, the area started bleeding heavily. My piercer had to stop everything to prevent further damage. She said my only choice now is to let it heal and get repierced at least 6 weeks later. It has been 48 hours since then, and the hole has closed up enough that it doesn’t even dribble when I urinate. Looking back with 20/20 hindsight… Keep spare jewelry on hand. Have some extra parts like beads or tips ready. Get professional advice before making changes yourself. If you are going to take a risk, do it during reasonable hours so you can find experienced help if needed. I took the time to track down an excellent piercer but put myself in a situation where I couldn’t actually get their assistance when I needed it most. Don’t be like me. I already miss wearing it. I liked the weight of it. Although it was somewhat inconvenient at times, there was a certain comfort in being constantly aware of its presence without it feeling bad. The frustrating part is that I think I had just reached the point where I could have enjoyed comfortable sex while wearing it. On one hand, with what I’ve learned from this experience, I’m fairly confident I’ll be okay getting pierced again. On the other hand, my wife isn’t really convinced about enduring another 3 to 4 months without sex.
