Ready for the piercing...now what?

This is my first post, so hi all. I feel a bit like Thumper… A SoCal transplant currently residing in the Twin Cities (and nearly the same age). My wife leans more toward sadism though… as you can probably guess from her nickname.;) Anyway - We’ve chosen to get me pierced (likely for glans armor, if memory serves). I noticed that the piercing gauges listed on the device are quite a bit larger than what is typically used for standard piercings. Any advice here? Do I need jewelry designed for stretching as a transition between the initial puncture and using the device? Or can they just pierce me at a slightly larger size initially to accommodate the glans armor? Thanks in advance!
