MRI booked and it is a steel device. What happens?

I have an MRI on Thursday for a knee thing. It only occurred to me this morning that I am wearing a fairly substantial piece of steel and that MRI machines and steel are not friends.

My keyholder is away until Wednesday night. I do have my own key, so this is not an emergency, but I would like to know what I am walking into. Do they check? Do I say something? Is a small amount of steel actually an issue for a knee scan when the machine is nowhere near it?
