I’ve been traveling abroad and kept my device locked with those # numbered plastic locks. I saved most of them, but Ma’am didn’t want to see the rest so they got bined (thrown away). One key takeaway is that these plastic locks permit plenty of movement between the base ring and the cage. That freedom eliminated all chaffing and made sleeping quite comfortable. I wore this setup for nearly two months.

Now back in the good US, I’m under a traditional lock with a key again. It’s been a while since I last experienced true immobility; it feels very different now that there’s no play when locked. The device is solid and heavy, and without any movement, chaffing hasn’t returned. However, because of the rigidness, I’m constantly aware the lock is on—it’s bothersome and hard to sleep with.

Ma’am removed it last night for personal reasons and let me stay unlocked until today to help settle the chaffing. It might not be long enough, but perhaps she’ll check in again this evening.
