The Meaning of 'slave' in Our Community

i haven’t watched the Oscar-winning film “12 Years a Slave” yet, but its title made me ponder the term “slave.” In our community, this word carries numerous meanings. I’m curious how many of you identify as a “slave,” and how many don’t? Since i posed the question, here is my take. My fantasy self would love to be MyBride’s slave; during play, we’ve sometimes joked that i serve as her “sex slave.” Yet despite these fantasies—kneeling before Her, wearing Her collar, attending to all Her needs, and enduring binding or punishment for mistakes—I don’t see this becoming our everyday reality. She probably wouldn’t accept it, nor am I certain i could sustain such a role if it were real. Thus, being her slave will stay within the realm of fantasy, though when we play, i’m always content to act as her “sex slave.” Do you view yourself or your sub as a slave?
