My Experience with the Mature Metal Jailbird Cage and Rings

My Jailbird arrived just five weeks after I placed the order with Mature Metal. It is wonderful to finally wear a cage that fits me perfectly. The tip of my penis rests right against the end, so no more painful erections like in other devices where they were too long. I chose the standard lock; it’s small and light, sitting neatly on top of the Jailbird. Getting it through the holes was snug because they are designed to keep the lock from shifting around, but honestly, a security lock isn’t necessary.

With my Holy Trainer, I tried rings sized 1.75” and 1.55”. The larger one worked well for the first month until one of my testicles started slipping out. Since one ball is bigger than the other, I need to size based on the smaller one, making the HT’s 1.55” ring ideal. For my CB6000s and Bon4, the 1.75” rings were just right.

I was quite anxious when ordering the Jailbird because I had measured many of their other devices, finding most didn’t match their stated sizes exactly. For example, the HT’s 1.55” ring actually measured across at 2”, though it was narrower from top to bottom due to its shape.

I initially ordered a 1-5/8” ring to align with my comfortable Holy Trainer ring for 24/7 wear. However, I realized that while the HT ring is about 2” wide and quite round, the Jailbird’s ring would be more oval-shaped rather than drastically so. Since returning the whole device for a new ring can be tedious, I decided to order the 1.75” option as well. It cost an extra $60 but turned out to be the right choice; my smaller rings were too tight.

With the 1.75” ring, I can fit half of my finger’s first joint underneath it, just like with my HT ring.

The cage length is finally spot on. No more long cages where my penis gets lost. Often before, my penis would turtel so much that the cage felt empty and was buried under the top edge of the ring. I opted for their shortest length, 1-1/4”, which fits perfectly.

Not only does my penis reach the tip, but because it is tailored to my dimensions, it no longer hides away. It really feels like a glove fit.

I was worried about urination since my urethra tends to point upward. I tested it once and found it fine as long as I apply slight downward pressure while sitting. Because my urethra sits at the end of the tube, urine streams straight out from the front rather than spraying all over the inside walls like in my older, larger devices.

The Jailbird fits beautifully, but I am curious how it will feel during an erection. In my previous cages, there was some room to expand. Now, depending on my state, there is only about 1/8th of an inch between the tip and the cage end.

It weighs much less than expected—5 oz without the lock, which adds negligible weight. Despite its compact size, it feels lighter even compared to my polymer and resin devices. It looks distinct because the short 1-1/4” cage nestles between my testicles rather than standing out like my previous oversized cages did. This design eliminates chafing regardless of what pants I wear; I have verified this.

Beyond size, I chose the Jailbird for its open cage design, which simplifies hygiene significantly. I expect to remove it far less often than before. Previously, reaching my penis with a Q-tip in my HT and CB was difficult. Now, it is right there where I can touch it easily with my finger.

Another factor is that my wife wants to be able to take the device into her mouth so she can feel me directly; this design allows that. But primarily, my wife does not want me having erections anymore. She noted that I used to complain about getting hard from minor sexual stimulation while watching TV or interacting with her. She no longer wants to hear those complaints.

I am slightly apprehensive about sleeping in it. With previous devices, I could get erect at night without waking up, but now I am unsure.

I selected the popular 3/8” gap and a ring diameter similar to the CB6000 for easy insertion of my penis. However, when erecting, it presses down on me since I have some bulk even in that state. It works well enough, as does this fit for many others.

It is hard to describe precisely, but the overall configuration makes my penis stand out rather than hide inside other devices. Looking back, buying a Jailbird after using their sizing rings might have been more cost-effective. I now own five devices in total, and my wife holds the keys (she joked that if she wore them all around her neck, it would pull down on her head).

Am I happy with this purchase? Absolutely. Finally, a device where my penis fills the cage effectively without turtling excessively, so both my wife and I can see it clearly. It touches the end of the cage with little room to grow further. I am somewhat half-cut; not circumcised as an infant but at age 25 upon my wife’s request. Apparently, I remained erect during that surgery despite ice packs, so they only removed half my foreskin. Perhaps I should have sued since many clinics administer female hormones before adult procedures to prevent this, though our urologist seemed less experienced with adults.

It is not a major issue; when flaccid, I look uncut, and when erect, cut—a unique best-of-both-worlds scenario. Mature Metal offers a free option to reverse the bars at the cage’s end to prevent pinching my foreskin, which I requested and found very useful.

I am thrilled to actually see the entire penis inside the cage rather than buried in body or under the ring. I can also clean underneath the head now, which was why I used to remove my HT and CB when showering—cleaning out there had always been taught as essential since childhood.

The inability to grow adds an interesting dynamic to our chastity play. It feels odd occasionally feeling air or panty material touch the skin where my penis bulges slightly against the sides, keeping things fresh with new limits and sensations.

Would I recommend it? Yes. If you are serious about long-term wear and want a custom-fitted open cage design, it is an excellent choice. Mature Metal will work with you to resolve fitting issues; if yours feels too tight or loose, send it back for a small fee for adjustment. Rings usually need the tweaking. They also offer double rings which some find more comfortable by spreading weight wider like CB rings.

I adapted well enough to the narrower HT ring style that I am content with mine. You can choose between round and slightly oval shapes. I picked oval because it is a bit wider side-to-side, fitting my ergonomics better, though others prefer round. It comes down to personal preference tailored to your dimensions. There are just two pieces plus the lock.

At first glance, the ring looked tiny; I doubted whether my testicles could pass through. The HT ring was much wider in comparison, but learning to push them through a smaller gap worked perfectly. Whenever I worry about fitting my balls through this small ring, I recall how they used to escape during sleep through 3/8” gaps elsewhere and how I managed the same trick.
